Matt has built his practice based on trust, accuracy, and high-quality service. He is extremely dedicated to helping his clients pursue financial success through tax advice and preparation, accounting services, and wealth management. Matt is considered by many clients to be an extension of their family, which he considers to be the best compliment he can receive.
Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in accounting and minor in finance from Lewis University in 1987. He received his license from the State of Illinois as a Certified Public Accountant in 1988 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations and is an Investment Advisor Representative with Cetera Financial Specialists, LLC. He has been servicing clients in wealth management since 1997.
After beginning his professional career in the Chicago office of KPMG, a national accounting firm, Matt joined a small accounting firm in northwest Indiana as a partner in 1990 as it allowed him the opportunity to foster closer relationships with clients and be a difference maker to them. That firm eventually became Matthew Hunniford & Co. in 1998, and he has operated as a sole owner since then.
Outside of the office, Matt spent over 20 years coaching baseball and football at the youth and high school levels. He stepped down from coaching in 2021, and now enjoys his free time with family and friends on the golf course and driving range continually searching for the game he had 30 years ago!
